AP-NORC poll: 71% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of Iran
A new poll by the Associated Press and the NORC center shows broad dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran and the war: 71% of Americans disapprove of his approach, reports Al Jazeera, citing the poll.
69% of respondents say the war was not worth fighting, while 65% blame Trump’s policies for higher-than-usual prices — an economic consequence of the war that is weighing on voters.
The results come just over a month before the November 3 midterm elections, where the war remains a leading foreign policy issue; Congress has seen repeated efforts to limit Trump’s war powers over Iran, including a House of Representatives resolution passed in June and a Senate measure narrowly defeated in September.
A change in control of either chamber of Congress could bring greater congressional scrutiny of the war, including further votes on military authorization and funding.
