BEIJING — China Confirms Xi Jinping’s State Visit to the U.S.
BEIJING, September 21 /ATSH-DPA/ — China has confirmed President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the United States, from September 23 to 25, at the invitation of his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
Trump invited Xi Jinping to the White House on September 24 during his visit to Beijing in mid-May.
This will be Xi Jinping’s first visit to the U.S. since 2023.
Back then, he traveled to California for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, where he met Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden.
Also, in 2017 Trump hosted Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
Xi’s last state visit to the U.S., with an official White House reception, was in 2015.
During the visit, several important issues are expected to be discussed, including trade disputes and tariffs between the U.S. and China, security in the use of artificial intelligence, as well as international conflicts — among them the war between Iran and the U.S. and Russia’s war in Ukraine.
