Ben-Gvir Enters Al-Aqsa Compound Again; Jordan Condemns It as ‘Unacceptable Provocation’

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has once again entered the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, accompanied by Israeli forces. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, the far-right minister appears to have performed Talmudic prayers in the eastern part of the compound — an act that violates the status quo in force since 1967, which does not allow non-Muslims to pray there, although Jews are allowed to visit the site.

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the act, calling it an “unacceptable provocation.” Spokesman Sufyan al-Momani said the continued incursions by extremist ministers and settlers are a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” and warned of the consequences of continuing these “provocative practices,” emphasizing that Israel “has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.” Amman called on the international community to maintain a “firm international stance” to stop the occupation of religious sites.

Ben-Gvir also promised the implementation of the death penalty for the perpetrator of the shooting attack near Ramallah, in which an Israeli settler died. He said the attack is the first case that meets the criteria of the “death penalty for terrorists law that we approved,” demanding the execution of the perpetrator, who was captured alive.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles with stones south of Bethlehem, wounding one Palestinian, according to Wafa, while the Israeli army raided Biddu, the hometown of the perpetrator of the attack near Ramallah, surrounding worshippers in a mosque during afternoon prayers.
