Warren blames “Trump’s economy” for American families’ squeezed budgets
Senator Elizabeth Warren, one of President Trump’s most vocal critics, blamed him for the squeeze on American consumer spending amid the economic fallout of the war with Iran, as Al Jazeera reports.
Referring to a recent Bloomberg article, the Democrat wrote on X that “high prices and rising borrowing costs are squeezing family budgets, forcing more Americans to cut back on spending for things like bowling and dining out”. “This is Donald Trump’s economy”, she added.
Gasoline prices rose to the national average of $4.27 per gallon last month, according to the American Automobile Association, almost 30 percent more than a year earlier, while a month before the midterm elections Americans are feeling the consequences of the prolonged war.
Trump’s approval rating has fallen to the low-to-mid thirties, the reporting adds.
