Case Keenum, 38, shines as the Bears beat the Eagles 27-7
Veteran Case Keenum found his rhythm again and led the Chicago Bears to a dominant 27-7 win over the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles. Starting in place of the injured Caleb Williams, Keenum played efficiently, distributed the ball to the right destination and sealed the game with a short-yardage rushing touchdown to close it out.
As the NFL reports, Keenum finished the game 24-of-34 for 247 yards and two touchdowns, adding four rushes for six yards, including the sneak touchdown. With that score he became the oldest player in the Bears’ 107-year history to score a rushing touchdown — 38 years and 223 days — breaking the previous record of Dave Krieg (38 years, 49 days). It was his first time playing since the 2023 season, and his performance marked an emphatic comeback.
Coach Ben Johnson praised Keenum’s composure and decisions, noting that when the running game was not working, the veteran relied on accurate passing and good decisions to keep the team in rhythm. His experience also showed when he took pressure from the opponent, distributing the ball accurately and easing the offensive game for his teammates. The team also tried a fast tempo from under centre, which contributed to the success of the offensive series.
The Bears improved to 2-1, while Johnson did not reveal who will start in week four against the New York Jets. For more on the game’s performance and statistics, see the NFL’s report.
