China unveils five-year action plan for digital village development
China has introduced a five-year action plan aimed at advancing the integrated development of digital industries, digital infrastructure and smart rural governance.
The action plan for the high-quality development of digital villages was jointly published by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, writes “China Daily.”
Under the plan, the internet usage rate in rural areas is projected to rise from 69.5 percent in 2025 to 75 percent in 2030.
Online activities at county-level cultural centers are also expected to grow from 151,600 in 2025 to 170,000 in 2030.
The plan emphasizes not only improving rural network infrastructure but also expanding efforts in areas such as smart agriculture, agricultural scientific and technological innovation, and rural e-commerce.
The plan also aims to promote education, health care and digital financial services in rural areas.
The Cyberspace Administration of China announced it will cooperate with other authorities to conduct regular analyses of the implementation of digitalization in villages, providing more explanations of policies to promote high-quality development.
The initiative aims to increase residents’ sense of fulfillment, happiness and security as they advance toward the information age.
