Chris Hansen Fires Back at “Primetime”: Unveils “I’m Chris Hansen” Documentary Trailer on the A24 Film’s Premiere Day

Chris Hansen, the well-known television host of “To Catch a Predator,” has unveiled the first trailer for his personal documentary “I’m Chris Hansen” — on the very day A24’s film “Primetime,” the drama that fictionalizes his story, opened in American cinemas, as ComingSoon.net reports.

The film “Primetime,” directed by Lance Oppenheim with Robert Pattinson playing a fictionalized version of Hansen, had its U.S. premiere on September 25, 2026. That same day, Hansen’s streaming network, TruBlu, released the first trailer for the documentary. Its tagline reads: “Over three years in the making; meet the REAL Chris Hansen.”

The documentary tells Hansen’s personal story of his work and career through exclusive interviews and archival footage. An official release date for the documentary has not yet been announced.

Hansen has long been critical of “Primetime”: after watching the film he said it was “detached from reality,” and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter called it “an insult to the thousands of men and women who work every day to protect children from predators… they turn something very positive into what is essentially a horror film.”

According to reports, Hansen also paid for the documentary’s trailer to run as an ad before “Primetime” screenings — a strategic counter-move against the A24 film.
