Christopher Hill: I understand the anger and outrage of Kosovo’s citizens after the Specialist verdict
The former U.S. envoy to Kosovo, Christopher Hill, has reacted to the situation created after the latest verdict of the Specialist Court against former KLA leaders, expressing understanding for the disappointment and anger of Kosovo’s citizens.
In an interview for Klan News, Hill said that sadness and disappointment are natural consequences of such a verdict, while expressing empathy for those who consider the verdict wrong.
He urged citizens to focus more on sadness than on anger, underlining the importance of the steps the defense must take.
Hill stressed that attention should be concentrated on what the defense must do, on the actions and the path to follow, and on the best outcome for the people in Kosovo.
In the end, he said he does not see anger and outrage toward international organizations as useful.
“I think being sad and disappointed are natural consequences of this verdict. I express my empathy for these people, who think this is the wrong verdict. I understand very well their anger and outrage, I understand very well the very great burden. I wanted to tell people to stay more with the sadness than with the anger. What people must do is what the defense needs now and what is the right action and path the defense should follow, and also what is the best outcome for the people in Kosovo, and I don’t think anger and outrage toward international organizations… I don’t think this anger is good,” he said.
