Çitaku on Flora Brovina’s Death: Warm, Courageous, Unbreakable

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP Vlora Çitaku has reacted to the death of former PDK MP Flora Brovina.

Through a Facebook post, Çitaku remembered Brovina as an extraordinary woman, highlighting her resilience and humanity in the face of the hardships she had endured.

“Brave, intellectual, noble. A woman who, even after going through so much suffering, radiated only kindness,” Çitaku wrote.

She also recalled Brovina’s first meeting with former president Hashim Thaçi and members of the KLA, after her release from Serbian prisons.

“I will never forget her first meeting with Hashim Thaçi and the KLA fighters, after Ms. Brovina’s release from the Serbian prisons, where she was being held as a war hostage,” Çitaku wrote.

She further conveyed the words that, according to her, Brovina had addressed to the KLA members at that time.

“My boys, how I have missed you. You look even more handsome than on TV. I am always with you,” Çitaku wrote, quoting Brovina.

In her reaction, Çitaku said that Brovina was a woman closely tied to Kosovo and that, despite the suffering, she had never lost her humanity.

“That was Flora. Warm, courageous, unbreakable. With an unconditional love for Kosovo and its people. Her life was the testimony of a woman who loved freedom, served her country and, even in the face of evil, never lost her humanity. Rest in eternal light, Flora Brovina. Kosovo will remember you with honor and gratitude,” she wrote.

PDK MP Blerta Deliu-Kodra also reacted to Brovina’s death.

“Farewell, Flora Brovina! Kosovo will always remember your work and contribution. Rest in peace!” Deliu-Kodra wrote.
