“Day Drinker”: Johnny Depp Makes His Big Hollywood Return — Full Trailer for the New Thriller Out Today

Johnny Depp is making his big return to Hollywood cinema. Lionsgate released a 19-second teaser for “Day Drinker,” the new action thriller directed by Marc Webb, known for “500 Days of Summer.”

The short clip shows a deck of tarot cards, with the Devil card turned face up, surrounded by candles — and then an axe smashes through the deck. Meanwhile the voice of Depp’s character, Kelly, is heard saying: “You thought I was done? I’m done when I’m done.” The full trailer is released today, September 24.

The film follows Lorna (Madelyn Cline, star of “Outer Banks”), a bartender on a private yacht, who meets the mysterious guest Kelly (Johnny Depp). The two become entangled with a criminal figure played by Penélope Cruz, in ways no one predicts. This is the fourth film in which Depp and Cruz star together, after “Blow” (2001), “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011) and “Murder on the Orient Express” (2017).

The script was written by Zach Dean, with producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, known for the “John Wick” films, as well as Adam Kolbrenner. The cast also includes Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle. The film was shot in Spain.

“Day Drinker” marks Depp’s return to a major Hollywood studio production and will be released in cinemas on March 26, 2027.
