Demaku replies to Haxhiu: PDK does not want a coalition with LVV either, but asks for the Special Court law to be proceeded with
Fadil Demaku, an MP of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has criticised the Vetëvendosje Movement’s approach to the political situation in the country after the conviction verdict in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), as Klan Kosova reports.
He responded to the recent statements of the Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, who has said that LVV does not want a coalition with PDK. In the interview for the Rubikon programme on Klan Kosova, Demaku said that PDK does not want any coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement either, but asked Albin Kurti’s party to proceed as soon as possible with amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
“We have their positions, which they state every day, that they do not want a coalition with PDK, and we tell them that we do not want any coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement either. We can take steps that are in the interest of the citizens and of our country. One such step is to overcome the situation, that is, to have a political agreement in the sense that the Law be proceeded with as soon as possible because it is an urgent need for Kosovo, and then the issue of the president,” he told Klan Kosova.
Demaku stated that LVV should not condition PDK and the Law on the Specialist Chambers on the issue of the president. According to him, the law is not an obligation for PDK, but first and foremost for those who have the numbers and who bear state responsibility, Klan Kosova reports.
“Do not condition us, because the Law is not an obligation for PDK, but first and foremost for those who have the numbers and who have state responsibility. We have not privatised the law. Here PDK gains nothing, but the citizens of Kosovo gain,” he said.
