De’Von Achane to miss rest of 2026 season with torn ACL in loss to Chiefs
De’Von Achane, the Miami Dolphins running back, will miss the rest of the 2026 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee in the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The injury occurred early in Sunday’s game, and new head coach Jeff Hafley told reporters the situation “doesn’t look optimistic.” Achane was selected to the Pro Bowl last season and signed a four-year, $64 million contract during the recent offseason.
As reported by NFL, the news was first broken Monday by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Sources said the injury is serious and that the coaching and medical staffs are planning the necessary steps to assess rehabilitation and determine alternatives in the lineup.
The Miami Dolphins will review their options to cover the running back vacancy, considering players within the squad and market options. Achane is expected to begin his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the medical staff, while the club monitors the expected timeline for his return to the field.
The news of Achane’s absence for the remainder of the 2026 season was also confirmed by NFL, as the team and the player prepare for the treatment and recovery process.
