Gjini after the Presidency meeting: the Alliance demands protection for the KLA leaders and a return to institutional normality
The leader of the Alliance, Ardian Gjini, announced that the party’s Presidency held its regular meeting today, the first after the decision of the Specialist Court in The Hague and on the eve of the expiry of the constitutional deadline for electing the president.
Gjini said the Alliance remains firm in its stance toward the Specialist Court, while demanding that the issue of legal aid for the KLA leaders in The Hague not be mixed with party politics.
“The Alliance continues to be firm from the start in relation to the Specialist Court, and will continue to demand from all parties that we never confuse the process of legal aid for the KLA leaders in The Hague and the defense of our statehood right with party politics,” Gjini wrote.
Referring to the process of electing the president, Gjini expressed concern over further delays, at a time when the deadline set by the Constitutional Court is approaching its end.
“Further dragging out of the process of electing the president, as we head toward the end of the deadline set by the Constitutional Court, and tendencies for maneuvers with deadlines and new matters before the Constitutional Court, risk creating even greater uncertainty for the citizen of Kosovo,” he declared.
Gjini stressed that the Alliance has been consistent and constructive on issues related to the country’s past, present and future.
In closing, Gjini said the Alliance will continue its political engagement to protect the constitutional order and restore institutional functionality in the country, as Telegrafi reports.
