GJKKO turns down Rama’s roundtable on magistrates’ salaries: awaiting Constitutional Court ruling
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) will not take part in the consultative roundtable called by Prime Minister Edi Rama on magistrates’ salaries.
In an official response dated September 25, 2026, GJKKO announced it will not attend the meeting, arguing that the matter is currently awaiting review and decision by the Constitutional Court.
The decision not to attend the roundtable follows the same line as the High Court, which also declined the Prime Minister’s Office invitation, arguing that the magistrates’ salary law is already subject to constitutional review.
Thus, the roundtable called by Rama to discuss the new salary formula for magistrates is taking place in a situation where two of the judiciary’s key institutions have chosen not to attend, citing the process before the Constitutional Court.
