Interparliamentary conference on EU enlargement opens in Tirana, Rama to deliver opening address
The Interparliamentary Conference on “The strategic agenda for EU enlargement and Albania’s membership” is being held in Tirana on Monday.
Prime Minister Edi Rama will also take part in the event, delivering an opening address. The conference brings together representatives of Albanian institutions, the European Parliament and the parliaments of European countries.
Discussions will focus on the European Union’s enlargement process, reforms, stability and security, as well as Albania’s membership process.
The opening will feature the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, Prime Minister Edi Rama, the EU Ambassador to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, and the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Albania, Andreas Schieder.
The conference will be divided into three sessions, covering the EU enlargement agenda and Albania’s path toward membership; enlargement as a driver of reforms, stability and security; and the role of parliaments in the European integration process.
The event will be moderated by the Chairman of the Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, together with representatives of the participating countries’ parliaments.
