National Security Council wraps up meeting at the Palace of Brigades

The National Security Council, convened by President Bajram Begaj, concluded the meeting held on Monday at the Palace of Brigades.

The meeting began at 8:30 a.m. and was also attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, along with the heads of the country’s main security institutions and other state officials.

The meeting took place at a sensitive moment for the security institutions, following the investigation and house-arrest measure against the former SHISH director, Vlora Hyseni.

The focus of the discussions was the national security situation, the protection of classified information and issues related to the functioning and security of institutions, particularly in cases where their leaders or employees become subjects of criminal investigations.

Rama had declared a day earlier that the Hyseni case and institutional responsibilities would be discussed at the National Security Council, describing the roundtable as the place where guarantees for the protection of security institutions should be addressed.

With the meeting concluded, no full details of the discussions have been made public as of yet.
