Gogu on Vlora Hyseni’s arrest: “Criminal responsibility is individual; we dismissed her”

Justice Minister Toni Gogu commented on the house arrest ordered by the Special Court against former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni, stating that the government has taken political responsibility through its decision to remove her from the institution’s leadership.

In a statement to the media outside parliament, Gogu said criminal responsibility is individual and that the conclusion of the judicial process must be awaited to determine it.

“Political responsibility has been taken; SHISH has a new leader until a permanent one is appointed. Criminal responsibility is individual; individuals face their trials,” the minister said.

Gogu stressed that the government acted to ensure the continuity of SHISH’s work following the accusations against its former director.

“The government dismissed the director because of the accusation and ensured the institution’s continuity. As for what happened at the institution, we must all await the full process,” he declared.

The minister added that political responsibility, in his view, is about taking the measures to ensure the institution keeps functioning.

“Political responsibility is when you take the helm so the institution continues doing its work,” Gogu said.
