Hague verdict: Hasani slams LVV — “For six years they did nothing; now they realize the state is at risk”
Former PDK MP Nait Hasani has criticized the Vetëvendosje Movement and Kosovo’s institutions over how, in his view, the case of the former KLA leaders and the developments at the Special Court have been handled. Commenting on the recently adopted declaration by the Kosovo Assembly, Hasani said such documents have been adopted before and that, in his view, their concrete effects have been limited.
“The Kosovo Assembly has adopted dozens of such declarations so far. Their effects have been to please our opinion in Kosovo,” Hasani declared on DPT te Fidani.
He also criticized institutions for their reaction, stressing that for 13 days after a decision none of the main institutions convened to address the situation. “We had a Government, we had an Assembly, we had an acting president, and we have the Security Council — none of them met to address the situation in Kosovo,” he said.
According to Hasani, the Assembly’s declaration does not clearly define concrete forms of action. “Nothing in this declaration gives an opportunity for form, engagement, possibilities,” he said, referring to the part of the declaration calling for a joint institutional and legal mechanism.
He then directed direct criticism at those who, in his view, are now invoking this declaration. “All those who today invoke this declaration, one after another in one circumstance, in another circumstance, have done nothing for six years. Because they understood the position differently,” the former PDK MP declared.
He also spoke about the judicial process against the former KLA leaders in The Hague, claiming the court’s decisions have overturned, in his view, part of the narrative built over the years against the PDK and the KLA. “The court showed: from April to June 10, we addressed the problems, the issues for which it was raised. Nothing more,” Hasani said on Klan Kosova.
Continuing, the journalist interrupted, stressing this is not only about Hashim Thaçi but about the entire KLA, while Hasani agreed with this assessment. According to him, only after the latest developments has the seriousness of the situation been understood, Klan Kosova TV reports. “Now they realized, after the court’s decision, that the state of Kosovo is at risk there,” Hasani declared.
Finally, asked whether the institutions understood this only now or knew earlier, Hasani replied: “They didn’t want to understand.”
