Hamza on ‘Pressing’: The draft law on the Specialist Chambers has only 27 articles, it can be passed within a day

The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, was a guest this evening on T7’s “Pressing” programme, where he spoke about his party’s legislative initiative to amend the Law on the Specialist Chambers, as Gazeta Express reports.

Hamza said the PDK’s draft law has only 27 articles and can be passed within a day: it passes the first reading, then a motion for an accelerated procedure, is reviewed by the functional committees and returns to the next session, which can be held a few hours later. “If it can be done for the Bureau, it can be done for this too,” he said.

He explained that if the Appeals Panel returns the case for a retrial, the process should take place in Pristina and not in The Hague.

Hamza also reacted to the Specialist Chambers verdict, saying that by the logic of this decision, even the mothers who gave bread to KLA soldiers would be considered “part of the joint criminal enterprise” — something he described as absurd and unacceptable.

The PDK chairman also called on Lëvizja Vetëvendosje to cooperate in passing the draft law, stressing that the issue goes beyond party divisions.
