Haradinaj: I am grateful to the Gervalla family, but for Donika as a politician I have no respect

Former prime minister and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP Ramush Haradinaj has commented on his relations with acting Foreign Minister Donika Gervalla, distinguishing between the respect he expresses for the Gervalla family and his assessment of her as a politician.

Speaking about Gervalla’s stances regarding developments at the Specialist Court and her statement that she is “the voice of the victims”, Haradinaj said he has no respect for her in political terms.

“As far as this is concerned, as a politician, I have no respect for her. Or in these stances, these, I truly have no respect for her at all,” Haradinaj declared.

However, he stressed that his stance toward Donika Gervalla as a politician should not be mixed with the respect he has for her family and the legacy of the Gervalla family.

“No, no, no to the biological legacy. For the honor of the nation, that the Gervalla family, that family, those brothers, Bardhosh, and others too, are the honor of the nation,” Haradinaj said on Kanal10.

He said Donika Gervalla grew up in difficult circumstances and that for this reason he expresses gratitude toward her and her family.

“This is a child of theirs who grew up in difficult conditions, through no fault of her own. Her mother raised her in difficult conditions, the family suffered. In every respect I am both thankful and grateful,” Haradinaj said.

But, as regards the exercise of public functions and her role as a politician and minister, Haradinaj was critical.

“As regards the exercise of the functions she exercises, Donika as a politician, as a minister, these… zero, unfortunately,” he declared.
