Haradinaj: We should not undo the trial process, we must win it
The former deputy chairman of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization, Nasim Haradinaj, has called for unity among institutions and political parties on the steps that should be taken after the Specialist Court verdict in The Hague.
In an interview for Radio Dukagjini, Haradinaj said that institutions and MPs should carry out their constitutional obligations, while stressing that the aim should not be to undo the trial process, but to face it and support the accused.
“We do not think that the trial process should be undone, but we must win the trial process, and we must also voice our remarks that this Court has abused the trust we gave it”, Haradinaj stated.
He said that every initiative, including securing the budget for legal support, requires coordination and political unity.
“Even to secure the budget, and to take any initiative, they must show themselves unique and unite on this point. Without unity, without unification, no process can begin, not a single stone can be moved”, he said.
Speaking about the “Not in my name” protests, Haradinaj asked that they not be exploited for party interests, but remain united around their demands.
“We need to come together to stand up for the insult to the dignity that has been done to us as a nation, to stand up for all those whom we have today in memorials, for the remains that are still missing from the war and for the blood that was shed”, Haradinaj said.
He called on institutions, political parties and citizens to focus on the steps that can be taken next, instead of attributing responsibility for the situation to one another.
