Haxhiu’s meeting with von der Leyen begins, the EC president arrives at the Presidency about 40 minutes late

Kosovo’s acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, today received European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for a meeting in the courtyard of the Presidency in Pristina, as KosovaPress reports. The media were allowed to film only during the official welcome, before the two officials held their one-on-one meeting.

According to reports, von der Leyen arrived at the meeting about forty minutes late. After the meeting with Haxhiu, the European Commission president will also meet Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with whom they are expected to hold a joint press conference.

Von der Leyen’s visit to Kosovo today comes as part of her Western Balkans tour, after her stop in Albania, and focuses on Kosovo’s path toward the European Union, as Klan Kosova reports.

Earlier in the day, her arrival was met with a protest by young people against the verdict of the Specialist Court in The Hague, under the motto “Not in my name,” while citizens temporarily blocked the road along which her motorcade passed.
