Hundreds of Thousands of Iranians at “Janfada-ye-Iran” Rally in Tehran; Pezeshkian: “People Ready for Any Crisis”
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered at Enqelab (Revolution) Square in Tehran to show solidarity with the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as part of the “Janfada-ye-Iran” campaign — roughly translated as “self-sacrifice for Iran,” Al Jazeera’s Tehran correspondent Sinem Koseoglu reports.
According to her, hundreds of thousands have registered in these units, which in case of crisis or war could be mobilised and will be trained by the Interior Ministry’s Basij — as military reserve units. Among those registered are women and teenagers. “Janfada-ye-Iran means: my life is a gift to my country,” the correspondent explained.
The rally was also attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, who in his speech called it a show of solidarity. According to the report, this is a message not only for countries like the US and Israel, which are attacking Iran, but also for the Islamic Republic itself: that the people are ready for any crisis.
The rally comes at a moment when the US–Iran war has entered its seventh month and regional tensions are escalating, with Tehran trying to show internal unity in the face of external pressure.
