Iljazaj: If SHISH wiretapped prosecutors for personal interests, we are facing a scandal

Analyst Elvis Iljazaj was a guest on “Now me Erla Mëhillin,” where he spoke about the meeting of the National Security Council regarding the security measure against the former director of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni.

Iljazaj focused on SHISH’s wiretapping powers and emphasized that information gathering must be linked to national security issues.

“SHISH can theoretically wiretap anyone for national security reasons. That is what it is for: to gather information for national security, not to gather information for wars within clans or for personal interests. If there are elements of national security, such as when there are suspicions that a prosecutor is cooperating with the intelligence services of another state, it can wiretap even a prosecutor, if there are national security reasons. But if it is done for personal wars and personal interests, then it constitutes a scandal. If the prosecution has data that wiretapping took place, it can open an investigation into this matter,” he said.
