Publication of the ‘red-label’ videos, Çakuli: The perpetrators will be convicted, but the stain inflicted on people will not fade
On Top Story with Grida Duma, the discussion continued about the intimate footage of public figures widely shared online. Filip Çakuli, a guest in the studio, commented on the case, saying that although the perpetrators will be convicted, the great moral damage caused to the victims is enormous.
Çakuli: I heard the name of Aurela Gaçe, a big name. Perhaps the court will convict the perpetrators, but the stain they have inflicted on these people’s names will never be erased. When it comes to these intimate videos, they spread at speed. Have a video in which pensioners barely get their money, and nobody opens it. These are the responsibility not only of the police, but of the whole of society.
Karamuço: What has been abused is that anyone who had a photograph with this person has faced insinuations that they were in his room. But none of them actually appears in the video.
Çakuli: When the Clinton affair came out, nobody dealt with the personal aspect. The institutions dealt with why he had lied to the people. The moral side cannot be stitched up with white thread; it is not the court that convicts you, but morality. Talk spread about Caesar’s wife; the court declared her innocent, but Caesar did not take her back. You are Caesar’s wife — it is not enough to be innocent.
He knew about the cameras and lied that there was no camera. The responsibility lies with him (Hila) first, and with those who spread the videos. Has this one (the journalist) who offers himself as a distributor of the videos been summoned?
