Iranian MP: The New York visit of Pezeshkian and Araghchi made Iran look weak and divided
Ali Khezrian, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, harshly criticised the diplomacy of Iranian officials during their recent visit to New York, calling it “undignified and reckless”, according to a report by the Kurdish news agency Rudaw, published by The Zambian Observer. Khezrian said the interviews of President Masoud Pezeshkian and the unusually long stay of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the city had presented Iran as weak, divided and eager to negotiate with the United States.
“Pezeshkian’s interviews, which called into question the established policy of avenging the killers of the martyred supreme leader, and the foreign minister’s unusually long stay in New York together created the image of an Iran that is weak, divided among its decision-makers and eager to negotiate with the United States,” he said.
The MP called the Strait of Hormuz the “Stalingrad” of the war, where Iran will force President Donald Trump’s “war machine” to surrender. “The world will see how the Iranian nation, by decolonising the waters from the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea, will force Trump’s war machine in the Strait of Hormuz to surrender,” Khezrian said.
He described the strait as a vital passage for the global economy and said its closure has brought Iran’s adversaries close to “suffocation”.
