Israel Strikes on Two Fronts: Airstrike in Southern Lebanon and Artillery Shelling in Southern Syria

Israel has launched an airstrike on the outskirts of Qantara in southern Lebanon, according to Al Jazeera reporters on the ground. Lebanon’s state news agency (NNA) also reported that Israeli fighter jets struck the town of Bani Hayyan.

Almost at the same time, Israeli forces opened artillery fire near the village of Bir Ajam north of Quneitra, according to Syrian state media. Three artillery shells were fired into the southern Syrian village, with no reports of casualties. Syria has repeatedly demanded that Israel withdraw fully from its territory, saying the military actions constitute violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

The strikes come amid a continued wave of Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and the region, as part of the escalation of the US–Iran conflict that has already involved Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
