Israeli Strike in Gaza Kills the Son of the Gaza Health Ministry Chief

An Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip killed the son of a senior health official, Al Jazeera reported. Footage from the aftermath of the strike shows Munir al-Bursh, the director general of Gaza’s Health Ministry, holding the body of his son Ahmed amid the rubble of the hospital where he was.

“I was with him in the tent and he told me: ‘Father, they will strike us, you and me together,'” al-Bursh told Al Jazeera. “I told him we are with the will and fate of God… God is greatest.” He added: “We consider him a martyr for the sake of Almighty God… he did what was needed for his home, country and family.”

This is the second personal loss for the Palestinian official: his daughter was killed in December 2023 in an Israeli strike. The strike comes as part of the expanded war of Israel and the United States against Iran, which has involved multiple fronts in the region.
