Italy: 25-Year-Old Albanian Shot Dead, Suspected of Burglarizing a Home
A 25-year-old Albanian, a resident of Turin, was shot dead in the early hours of this morning while allegedly burglarizing a home in Baldissero d’Alba, in Italy’s Cuneo province.
According to Italian media, a group of at least 4–5 people had entered the home’s courtyard at around 2:00 a.m., when the owner, identified as Roberto Mollo, caught them by surprise and fired several times with a pistol he legally owned. As a result, the 25-year-old Albanian was left dead, while his identity has not yet been made public.
According to the preliminary reconstruction of the event, Mollo, a mechanic and truck driver for livestock transport, was alone in the home owned by his parents when he heard noises outside.
After suspecting that unauthorized persons had entered the property, he went out to see the situation and, when he confronted the group in the dark, took the semi-automatic pistol and opened fire.
One of the group was killed, while the others fled the scene. Italian authorities are investigating the incident to clarify its full dynamics.
