Kelleci: We Are Against the Boycott — It’s Not Our Solution. Here Is the Agenda Starting Tomorrow

Democratic Party deputy chairman Belind Kelleci told the “Trialog” show hosted by Alba Alishani on RTSH24 that the party’s top forum has decided to reject any idea of a parliamentary boycott and to focus its entire agenda on the latest scandals.

According to Kelleci, today’s two meetings — the parliamentary group’s and the chairmanship’s — lasted a total of about six and a half hours and focused on developments over the past two weeks.

“We finished the second meeting just 10 minutes ago — it was the Democratic Party chairmanship meeting. We had two meetings that lasted about six and a half hours in total between these two top forums.

“We started the Democratic Party parliamentary group meeting at 13:00, and at 18:00 we began the Democratic Party chairmanship meeting, where of course the past week or the past two weeks were the main theme,” Kelleci said.

He noted that the Democratic Party has no intention of boycotting plenary sessions, and explained what the agenda in parliament will be the next day.

“We had a very long debate. It was agreed that this story can no longer continue as ‘business as usual.’ We are definitely against the boycott. The idea was floated, all options were put on the table. Without question, we have already enshrined in our statute that the boycott will not be our solution and will never again be the Democratic Party’s political response.

“Starting tomorrow there will be only one agenda item on the parliamentary order of business, which will be the latest scandal involving the State Intelligence Service. This is not an issue of individuals — it is an issue of institutions.

“Officially, the state’s highest institutions have been brought to their knees before organized crime and structured criminal groups, and this is a story that should have been accompanied from the very first moment it became public by the prime minister’s resignation,” Kelleci said.
