KLA war veterans: Government should fast-track the Specialist Chambers bill
The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK) has called on the government to process the draft law amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers as quickly as possible.
At a press conference, the organization’s vice-chairman, Gazmend Syla, said that after parliament approved the declaration, concrete steps must be taken to move the bill forward.
“Parliament and the MPs did their part, they demonstrated political will with their vote. The government should process the bill as soon as possible so it reaches parliament for approval immediately. The declaration is a pledge, the law is action,” Syla said.
He demanded that the process not be delayed, adding that political responsibility for failing to move the bill forward must be clear.
Syla also spoke about the march announced for October 1 in Pristina, in support of the former KLA leaders and against the Specialist Chambers’ verdict.
He said the march will take place at “Skënderbeu” Square starting at 4:00 PM, and called on war veterans’ categories and citizens to join the rally.
“We have made all preparations for the October 1 march,” Syla said, adding that the event aims to oppose what he described as “injustice toward the war and our state.”
The OVL-UÇK vice-chairman warned that the organization will continue with activities in the future.
“There will be such events organized by OVL-UÇK until our fellow fighters return home innocent,” Syla declared.
He also announced that further events are planned in various cities across Kosovo, so citizens can take part in these activities, as Telegrafi reports.
