Koci: The president and the change to the law on the Specialist Chambers can be done within a day in the Assembly
Analyst Melazim Koci has stated on Klan Kosova’s “Ora 7” programme that the issue of electing the president of Kosovo and amending the draft law on the Specialist Chambers should not be treated as two separate processes, but can be resolved in parallel, even within a day in the Assembly of Kosovo.
According to Klan Kosova, Koci said that one issue should not be singled out as a precondition for the other; the political parties should reach an agreement on both issues and then proceed in the Assembly. “I do not think one should be singled out to come first and then the second… I do not rule this out, it is possible,” the analyst said.
He stressed that the key to a solution is the political will of the parties, and he fears that precisely the lack of this will is the main problem. “Absolutely. The main thing is for there to be political will. And I fear that is where the problem lies, the lack of political will. That is the main problem. Both issues can be settled,” Koci declared.
The analyst warned that if the parties insist that one issue be treated before the other, Kosovo risks going to new elections, stressing that resolving both requires a prior political agreement and not mutual conditions.
