Kosovo aims for victory over Israel, Foda warns of changes to the lineup
Kosovo will seek a return to victory on Thursday, when it faces Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, in the Nations League. The match takes place tomorrow, Thursday, from 20:45, and is decisive for the “Dardanians” after the 3-1 defeat to Austria in Vienna, as Urgjent reports.
At the press conference held a day before the match, head coach Franco Foda warned of changes to the starting lineup. “It is one of the matches where I will make changes from the previous match. We will try to play the same as against Ireland,” Foda declared, according to Urgjent.
A major question mark remains goalkeeper Arijanet Muriq, who suffered an injury in the duel against Austria and has not trained fully with the team. “He suffered an injury in the last match, but he is well. We will see tonight whether he will be ready for tomorrow or not,” Foda said.
The group context makes the duel even more important: Kosovo started the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Ireland in Pristina, while Austria leads the group with 6 points, followed by Kosovo and Ireland with 3 points each, while Israel has no points. Second place secures a place in the play-offs for promotion to League A.
Great optimism also prevails in Kosovo’s camp, as Gazeta Sportal reports: Baton Zabërgja and Milot Avdyli have stressed that it is time to return to victory. “Now is the moment to return to victory and I believe that together we will succeed,” Avdyli declared.
