Kosovo Police interrupted a children’s show in Lešak — Belgrade official condemns the intervention
The children’s show of magician Bokac and clown Paja, which was expected to be held last night in Lešak in northern Kosovo, did not take place after the intervention of the Kosovo Police. According to the Kossev portal, police interrupted the children’s activity that had been planned in this settlement of the Leposavić municipality.
Kosovo Police Deputy Commander for the North region, Veton Elshani, confirmed to Kossev that the show’s organizers were asked for a permit issued by the municipality, which they did not have. Without this document, holding the activity could not be allowed, he explained.
Elshani added that the heightened state of police readiness in the north is linked to the operational plan ahead of the Special Court’s verdict in The Hague expected tomorrow, in which former president Hashim Thaçi is also among the accused. He stressed that the police aim to ensure public order and above all the safety of citizens.
The police intervention was sharply condemned by official Belgrade. Petar Petković, director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, in a post on the social network X condemned the interruption of the children’s show and blamed Pristina for the action.
