Kosovo seeks private capital for the green transition: Kosovo–Luxembourg forum in Pristina

The Kosovo–Luxembourg Forum on Mobilizing Private Investment in Kosovo focused on mobilizing private investment, strengthening the financial sector and financing the green transition, as KosovaPress reports.

The forum discussed investment opportunities in the energy sector, the development of sustainable finance and the need for a broader financial system through which private and institutional capital could be channeled toward strategic projects for Kosovo’s economy.

Finance Minister Hekuran Murati said the green transition should not be seen simply as a decarbonization objective, but as an investment in Kosovo’s energy security, competitiveness, resilience and long-term growth. According to KosovaPress, Murati stressed that economic efficiency alone is not enough — sustainability and reliable partners are needed, especially in the energy sector, where dependence on imports creates vulnerability.

Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli said that in recent years Kosovo has worked on drafting its green transition strategy, creating the policy framework and developing concrete projects in the energy sector, with the expansion of production from renewable sources and the more efficient use of energy as priorities.

The chairman of the board of the Kosovo Banking Association, Gem Maloku, called for such forums to serve as a bridge from experience and knowledge to concrete investment, while the head of the Luxembourg Mission in Pristina, Eric Dietz, said the forum had for the first time brought together the broad representation of Luxembourg’s sustainable finance ecosystem with the actors of Kosovo’s financial and economic sector.
