Kurti: On appeal, we will do everything for the former KLA leaders
At the third meeting of the Government of Kosovo, on Wednesday (30 September), Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared that everything will be done for the former KLA leaders in the appeal process in The Hague, as Klan Kosova reports.
“As Prime Minister, we will do everything we know and can, together with colleagues from the Government and beyond, to correct this verdict when the appeal comes,” Kurti said.
Kurti recalled that in New York he had expressed deep concern about the first-instance verdict of the Specialist Chambers against the former KLA leaders — Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi — describing it as unjust legally and morally and inaccurate historically and factually. “It is important to distinguish what has been said and claimed from what has been proven and decided by the Court. The process has not ended, and we expect the injustices and shortcomings of this verdict to be addressed on appeal,” Kurti said, according to Klan Kosova.
He announced that he had held meetings with the head of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, and with the head of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, about future actions regarding the Hague verdict, and called for close cooperation among political parties.
