Las Vegas Aces beat Indiana Fever 102-85 in playoff opener
The Las Vegas Aces won the first game of the WNBA playoffs against the Indiana Fever, triumphing 102-85. The Las Vegas team showed control and intensity at key moments, making it hard for their rivals to fight back.
As Bleacher Report notes, Wilson dominated near the basket, hit difficult mid-range shots, scored three-pointers and shone on the defensive end. Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray also contributed heavily, while the role players did their jobs — when Young, Gray and Wilson played together, the Aces were +35 against Indiana.
For the Indiana Fever, it was clear that if Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell cannot combine for more than 30 points, the team has little chance of staying competitive against such a balanced squad. The Fever’s defense must improve significantly in the upcoming games if they hope to shift the balance of the series.
Las Vegas seems to rise when games matter most, with a combination of individual quality and bench depth that makes the team dangerous at this stage of the season; according to Bleacher Report, this performance makes the Aces clear favorites in the series.
