Serbian industry awaits the gas solution: “We can get through the winter — we will have enough and at a favorable price”
Serbia currently enjoys a favorable gas price, which gives it a significant advantage over part of the European economy — but for domestic companies the main uncertainty begins after the current agreement expires at the end of September, when any serious increase in the price of this energy source could bring consequences, as Blic reports in a story published today.
The industry’s assessment, relayed by Blic, is that “we can get through the winter” and that “we will have enough and at a favorable price” — a signal of confidence in the country’s supply of this energy source, even though the details of the arrangement that will replace the current agreement are still awaited.
The gas issue is at the center of Serbian politics these days: as previously reported, Aleksandar Vučić held a one-hour phone conversation on September 26 with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on gas, NIS and bilateral relations.
With the current agreement expiring on September 30, the coming days will show whether Serbia will secure similar supply conditions — an issue that directly affects domestic industry, home heating and the stability of energy prices in the winter months.
