Limaj hopes for the acquittal of the former KLA leaders: May they return the way they left

Social Democratic Initiative leader Fatmir Limaj has recounted his own experience on the night before a verdict is announced, recalling the time when he himself faced a court process.

Appearing on the “Pressing” show on T7, Limaj said that the night before a decision “you prepare for the worst”, referring to his own case. “My acquittal was met with an emotional outpouring from the people, it was a spontaneous, unorganized gathering; now we have an organized one…”, Limaj said.

Speaking about the verdict against the former KLA leaders, expected to be announced on September 16, Limaj described the night before the decision as particularly difficult. “It is an extraordinarily difficult night, everything goes through your mind. The effects afterward are effects we will have to live with as Kosovo and as citizens,” he said.

Limaj said he expects the judicial process to conclude and the former KLA leaders to return to Kosovo. “This chapter should be definitively closed tomorrow,” he said.

He added that his own acquittal, in his view, had also helped in the verdict concerning Ramush Haradinaj, and he expects these cases to serve as a reference for the decisions on the four former KLA leaders. “I expect that tomorrow too the founders of the KLA and of the state will return the way they left, proud and with dignity,” Limaj declared.
