Manaj: What matters is the team’s victory, not who scores the goal

Albanian national team striker Rey Manaj spoke to FSHF.TV after the 2-0 victory over Belarus in the opening match of the Nations League.

“I believe we played a very good first half and in the second half we controlled the ball. Only the first 5 minutes we had a sort of ‘black out’, but that’s normal. I believe the coach had prepared the match very well, and thankfully we achieved the victory. Now we have matches against San Marino and Finland, and hopefully we close with 12 points.

“I felt very good. In the first half we kept the team high with pressing. Then it depends a lot on the opponent you have, because there are strong teams that even if you press them, they still get out. So you have to think differently sometimes, by waiting.

“It’s not that you don’t want to score, but stay compact so they don’t split us. This time Asllani scored, I’m happy. What matters is the team’s victory, it doesn’t matter who scores the goal. Now we have the next match to look at,” Manaj said.
