Matthew Morrison returns to Broadway as Bobby Darin: three weeks in “Just in Time” from October 20
Matthew Morrison is returning to the Broadway stage. The Screen Actors Guild Award winner and Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee will reprise his role as Bobby Darin in the musical “Just in Time” for a limited three-week engagement beginning Tuesday, October 20, at the Circle in the Square Theatre, as Playbill reports and according to BroadwayWorld.
Morrison will succeed two-time Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan, who will play his final performance as Darin on Sunday, October 18. Carrie St. Louis also gives her final performance as Sandra Dee on the same day. As previously announced, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt will join the cast as Sandra Dee on December 1.
Morrison had played Darin earlier this year, when he replaced the original star Jonathan Groff. The musical, developed and directed by Tony winner Alex Timbers, with a book by Tony winner Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver, transports audiences to an intimate nightclub with a live onstage band performing Darin’s iconic hits such as “Beyond the Sea”, “Mack the Knife”, “Splish Splash” and “Dream Lover”.
Producers Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost have used short engagements by high-profile stars to keep interest alive in the production, which is the only musical of the 2024–2025 season to have recouped its initial investment. Tickets for “Just in Time” are currently on sale through February 7, 2027.
