Trump’s “super intelligence” accord has a spelling error: “Unites States” under the president’s signature
The White House’s new “Super Intelligence” accord, signed by President Donald Trump and the heads of tech giants, is drawing attention for a reason unrelated to its content: under the president’s signature, the country’s name is misspelled “Unites States” instead of “United States”, as USA Today reports.
The “morally binding” document for the safe development of the technology was signed by Trump and six executives of the largest artificial intelligence companies at the White House on September 29 and published on the White House’s social media accounts on September 30. Since then it has been widely shared along with the spelling error. It is not known how the error happened, or whether the document will appear in the same form in the Federal Register.
Social media users and politicians, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, did not hesitate to mock the error. The White House did not immediately respond to USA Today’s request for comment.
The accord, the term with which Trump has rebranded Artificial Intelligence, asks companies to have “strong internal processes and controls to ensure that their technology behaves as intended” and to cooperate with an independent external auditor. Among the executive signatories are Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
