Melania Trump returns with the “IMPERIA” initiative — a “Davos for women” in an intense week between New York and Washington
After a long summer absence, Melania Trump will be very visible in public next week, with an intense agenda stretching from New York to Washington. The details were given exclusively to USA Today by her senior adviser, Marc Beckman.
On 22 September, the first lady will promote her “Fostering the Future Together” initiative and will meet the first ladies of 57 countries during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly in New York, at the St. Regis hotel. Beckman also revealed new partnerships with leading technology companies.
A day later, on 23 September, Melania Trump will ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and will launch the new “IMPERIA” initiative — a forum and network for women CEOs and C-suite board members. The first, invitation-only event is organised by the NYSE itself. “This initiative will provide a forum and network for powerful women to do business together, move capital, influence policy and collaborate across sectors,” Beckman said, calling the initiative a “Davos for women”.
On 24 September, Melania will join President Trump in welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan on their state visit to the White House. The first lady has personally overseen the preparations, including the State Dinner.
The week closes on 25 September, when the two couples will go together to the National Archives to view the US Declaration of Independence up close.
