Merz writes to Kurti on the new mandate: Germany stands firmly alongside Kosovo

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, yesterday received a congratulatory letter for the Government and the new mandate from Germany’s Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, as the Prime Minister’s Office in Kosovo announced through KosovaPress reporting.

“I warmly congratulate you on your re-election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo has left behind months of political uncertainty, which has imposed high costs on the country. The confirmation of your election offers the opportunity to build bridges beyond the party prism, to resolve open institutional issues and to advance reforms,” Chancellor Merz wrote, quoted in the Prime Minister’s Office announcement.

Alongside congratulations for success in the new governing mandate, the German Chancellor wrote that Germany stands firmly alongside Kosovo, stressing the special friendship with the people of Kosovo.

The congratulatory letter comes after Kosovo constituted its new institutions following a long period of political deadlock, which had delayed institutional decision-making for months.
