Microsoft begins rolling out the Windows 11 26H2 update — here’s how to get it
Microsoft today began rolling out the new Windows 11 update, version 26H2, officially known as the “Windows 11 2026 Update”, as The Verge reports. The update comes in the form of a small “enablement package”, which means installation is very quick and requires only a single restart of the computer.
Many of the features that had gradually reached users of version 25H2 now officially become part of 26H2. Among the main new features are “Agent in Settings”, an assistant that lets users control system settings in natural language, AI improvements in Task Manager, and new customisation options for the Start menu and Taskbar.
According to Neowin and Windows Latest, the update is obtained through Settings > Windows Update, by first enabling the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” and then pressing “Check for updates”. The rollout is gradual, so it may not appear immediately — Microsoft may also impose “safeguard holds” on devices where compatibility problems have been detected.
Installing version 26H2 also renews the official support cycle: 24 months for the Home and Pro editions, and 36 months for the Enterprise and Education editions, making this update especially important for users and businesses that want to stay protected for a long time.
