Mitrovica: Medical School graduates’ excursion cancelled, school leaders meet municipal officials
The Municipal Directorate of Education (DKA) in Mitrovica has cancelled the excursion of the graduates of the ‘Dr. Xheladin Deda’ Medical School, which was planned to depart on Wednesday morning, as Klan Kosova reports.
The school’s principal, Drita Qamili, told Klan Kosova that they are not yet aware of the reasons for the cancellation, as the school has still not received an official written notification from the DKA.
On this issue, school leaders held a meeting this morning with municipal officials to find a solution, Klan Kosova journalist Kastriot Tahiri reports from Mitrovica.
According to him, the parties weighed the arguments of each side regarding the decision taken to cancel the 12th-grade excursion to Albania.
‘The cancellation was made yesterday afternoon, about an hour after the Municipality’s official working hours ended, but more worrying than the fact of the cancellation is the decision taken by the Municipality, which dates back 20 days, before even the economic operator was known,’ Tahiri told Klan Kosova.
The Director of Education in Mitrovica told Klan briefly that ‘the school broke the law by choosing the most expensive economic operator and disregarding other offers with cheaper prices’.
According to journalist Tahiri, it is not known whether the Municipality will relent or stand by its decision to cancel the excursion and announce a new competition for the selection of another economic operator, since 175 euros, according to the Director of Education, are unaffordable for family economies in Kosovo.
