More than ten SNP theatre ballerinas sue director Aja Jung over mobbing
More than ten ballerinas of the Serbian National Theatre (SNP) in Novi Sad have sued ballet director Aja Jung for mobbing, as television N1 reports — a report also carried by the daily Danas. According to N1, the ballerinas decided to seek legal protection after a long period of pressure at work.
In addition to the lawsuit, the ballerinas sent the theatre’s management — the oldest professional theatre institution in Serbia — an initiative to dismiss director Jung, Danas reports.
They say that ‘coming to work in fear’ has lasted for a year and a half. According to N1, so far eight dancers were unlawfully retired and were then reinstated by court decisions.
The ballerinas also claim that unfounded disciplinary proceedings were launched against some of them, while about 20 external collaborators left the theatre during this period, N1 reports.
Television N1 sought comment from both Aja Jung and the Serbian National Theatre, but by the time of publication had received no reaction, Danas writes.
