Murati: The opposition must not repeat its boycott over the president, MPs should stay in the chamber
Vetëvendosje MP Hekuran Murati has called on MPs from the opposition parties to stay in the session when the new president is voted on, as KosovaPress reports.
“We have in all cases been open to discussions, but it is up to MPs of the other parliamentary parties to ensure that they stay in the chamber when the president is voted on — that is the problem. As you know, last time the country went to elections because the opposition boycotted the vote for the president,” Murati said.
According to him, Vetëvendosje has always been ready, but the same willingness was not there from the other political parties.
Asked why the bill amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers was not on the agenda of the government meeting, Murati said that all bills must be reviewed before they are forwarded: the line ministries review them, give their opinion, and then the bill is forwarded.
According to KosovaPress, the Constitutional Court has clarified that the 60-day deadline for electing the president began on August 8, the day the Assembly was constituted, and ends on October 6.
