Nagavci reacts after the incident with Fahrush Rexhepi: Unacceptable and shameful
The head of the Vetëvendosje Movement’s parliamentary group, Arbërie Nagavci, has reacted to today’s incident, in which the LVV MP, Prof. Dr. Fahrush Rexhepi, was grabbed by the hands and pushed by protesters, as Telegrafi reports.
Nagavci described this behaviour as unacceptable and shameful, stressing that the right to protest and criticise does not imply the right to use physical force against an MP.
“The footage in which protesters grab an MP of the Republic of Kosovo by the hands and push him by force has nothing in common with the democratic right to protest. Protest is a right, criticism is a right, the demand for accountability is a right, but nobody has the right to use physical force against an elected representative of the citizens,” Nagavci wrote.
She also highlighted Rexhepi’s profile, describing him as a university professor and a doctor of historical sciences.
Nagavci also mentioned the MP’s family, stressing that his brother, Njazi Rexhepi, was a member of Brigade 138 “Agim Ramadani” and a martyr who fell in the Battle of Koshare, while his other brother, Jonuz Rexhepi, is a war veteran and a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
“Nobody gains the right to exercise violence by invoking the name of the KLA, least of all against a man whose family has paid with blood the price of Kosovo’s freedom,” Nagavci declared.
According to her, the use of violence in the name of the values of the war does not represent their defence.
“This is not a defence of the values of the war. This is a violation of them,” she concluded.
