NORAD F-16 Intercepts Aircraft That Violated Airspace Over Camp David While Trump Was There
On Saturday morning, at around 7:50 local time, a NORAD F-16 fighter jet intercepted a civilian aircraft that had violated the restricted airspace over Camp David (Thurmont, Maryland), where President Donald Trump was spending the weekend.
The F-16 fired flares to get the pilot’s attention, and the pilot was then safely escorted out of the area. The announcement was made public by First Air Force, part of the U.S. Northern Command, on the X platform.
A permanent no-fly zone exists over Camp David, while additional temporary restrictions are imposed whenever the president is there. The temporary restriction (TFR) took effect on Friday evening, September 18, at 19:59, and remains in force at least until Sunday morning.
This is the latest intervention in a series of similar ones — in June, too, an aircraft was intercepted over Camp David while Trump was staying there, and the pilot was safely escorted out of the area at the time.
